The photo that saves a visit

The form has a place for one photograph, and the most useful thing you can put in it is your fuse board with the cover on, taken straight on and close enough to read the labels. From that one picture an electrician can see roughly how old the board is, whether there is any RCD protection and what kind, whether there is surge protection, how many circuits there are and whether there is a spare way for anything new, and often the make, which says a lot about when the board went in. If the job is an EV charger, add a second photo of the wall where you want it and say how far it is from the board, because the cable route is most of the price. If it is an EICR, the board photo plus the number of bedrooms is usually enough to price the inspection. If it is a fault, a photo of the scorched socket or the tripped switch tells more than a description ever will. None of this is required, and the form sends perfectly well without it, but a photo lets David come back with a price instead of a question.
